Edit Clothes and Human Characters in Blender

In this Unity┬átutorial we’ll be importing our character from MakeHuman into Blender. We’ll discuss how to setup the addon required to import these MHX files then show you how to edit the individual clothes meshes.

There are two ways to modify the clothes, the simplest being a solidify modifier applied to the meshes which results in thicker looking. If you’re just looking for a quick and easy way to remove the “bleeding” in of the clothes, then use the solidify modifier.

If you’d like more control over the editing of the meshes, then you’ll need to go into edit mode and pull out the mesh faces bit by bit. It can be a bit tedious and time consuming, but it also results in a much better mesh, not to mention the thickness of the clothes isn’t effect with this method. We’ll finish off the video by exporting via FBX file format so that we can use this in Unity 3d with a Mecanim friendly rig.
